Thoughtful Thursday & Pause - Breathe

ON THE BLOG

PAUSE - BREATHE

It's early Thursday morning as I am writing this.

The sun hasn't come up yet.

It is hard to believe that Christmas is less than 2 weeks away.

I have been thinking about how the holiday season can bring with it magic and memories.

Yet, for many of us, we can also feel overwhelmed, discouraged, or sad.

Believing we are behind.

Thinking about how our shopping isn't complete.

Or thinking about how we still haven't figured out our neighbor gifts.

Or thinking about how our Christmas cards are still in the Shutterfly box they were delivered to us in.

Or thinking about a relationship that we wish was different.

Or thinking about the loved one who has passed from this life and won't be joining us this year for the festivities.

Just writing those last few lines, I am feeling the weight of the words.

Those are actual thoughts that have come into my mind at different moments over the last couple of weeks.

So I am writing the rest of this email to you and me as a reminder.

Instead of beating yourself up or burning yourself out, PAUSE and BREATHE.

Take a moment to look around you and see the beauty of the season.

What if you could begin shifting your focus from how things aren't as they should be to considering the possibilities?

What if it is possible…

You are doing better than you think you are.

You are not behind.

You have plenty of time to do those things that REALLY matter to you.

Your gifts don't have to be perfect.

You may not do every tradition this year and that's okay.

Your neighbors won't hate you if you don't get them a neighbor gift.

The people on your Christmas card list won't mind if your greeting card arrives in 2024.

How you choose to think about that struggling relationship can actually strengthen it.

Enjoying the holidays and missing someone this season don't have to be mutually exclusive.

There is room for both.

PAUSE and BREATHE.

How do you FEEL when you consider these possibilities?

What would you DO OR NOT DO differently if you felt that way?

How would you EXPERIENCE the holidays if you showed up that way?

 What if it is possible…
